MATES in August
Fly the Flag
The MATES office has been a hive of activity during August to get some special parcels all packed up and ready to go! Over 250 MATES Fly the Flags will be winging their way onto sites right across New Zealand. Our Field Officers headed out in Auckland for our local distribution, whilst our mates across the rest of NZ had theirs delivered via courier.
What is Fly the Flag?
Fly the Flag is for the construction industry to show support and raise awareness about mental health and suicide prevention. The message is about taking the time out of a day to remind each other to notice when our mates may be struggling and that it’s not only OK to have these conversations but essential and important!
Fly the Flag is about letting the greater community know that MATES in Construction is committed to looking out for our mates!
COVID-19 Level 3 for Auckland
In Auckland, our Field Officers headed out to share our (sanitised) MATES Care Packages. In the pack, there were some helpful resources that will aid you during the Level 3 lockdown in Auckland.
Site visits in Level 3 – City Rail Link
Slade and Pene (Ben) were onsite at the City Rail Link Ltd to check in with the team. Under the site protocols, the boys did a walk around with Desmond O’Brien to make sure everyone was travelling OK.
Site visits in Level 3 – Central Interceptor Project
There was a welcome back to staff at the Watercare Services Limited CIP project with Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture after the 24hr shutdown. Richie called in to join the team for a welfare check and brief about protocols during Level 3.
